Lifeguarding Courses & Certification

Whether you are looking for a great summer job or career as a professional lifeguard, the YMCA is the place to begin! Through classroom activities, group discussion, online e-learning, and hands-on practice, you’ll learn the skills you need to work as a lifeguard. Our comprehensive Lifeguard and Training course includes accident prevention, lifeguarding techniques, emergency systems, and rescue skills. The course also includes CPR for the professional Rescuer with AED and First Aid.

Lifeguarding programs prepares lifeguards to prevent, protect and respond to aquatic emergencies. Our program is nationally accepted and has been refreshed with modernized tools and includes active hands-on learning. Our program aligns with the most current scientific insights and best practices and is validated by the American Red Cross.

Lifeguarding Recertifications

If you already have (or had) your lifeguarding certification, you can recertify at our YMCA as well!
